This is a bit of a hybrid site. They have paid-to-click ads, paid surveys, paid e-mails (almost daily, a huge improvement on most paid e-mail sites I've tried) and a daily free lottery, as well.

You get $10 in your account just for signing up - but it is a $40 payout, so it could still take you a while to earn enough to get paid. There are quite a few free offers to sign up for to earn money. There are also a bunch of offers you have to pay for, but the amount you get paid for these usually covers the amount you pay for them - so if the offers would be useful to you personally, there's no reason not to sign up since you're pretty much getting whatever they're offering for free.

The lottery especially is a genious idea - not because you really have much of a chance of winning, just because it's unique to the site (and hey, it's free, so why not enter every day?). Instead of the usual asking members to click on an ad and stay on the page for 30 seconds, you click on the lottery you want to enter and have to view an ad for 10 seconds before you can pick your numbers.

And on top of that, you get $5 for each referal, plus 10% of what they make.

I did a google search on the site (because it seemed almost too easy to make money on it... the free offers pay less than $1 as usual, but the ones you have to pay a bit to sign up for can get you $25 sometimes) and as far as I can tell, it's legit. There are a lot of people complaining that it takes them forever to answer e-mail complaints, and that it takes them up to a month sometimes to get your cheque in the mail. They only pay by cheque, which is a drawback to a lot of people.

The reason I like the site so much (and am hoping it's not actually a scam) is that it's based in Toronto... which means Canadians can actually sign up for most of their offers, for once.

SurveyHead

Ok... after my post about survey sites, I got an e-mail from SurveyHead, inviting me to another survey. Unfortunately for me, once again, I did not qualify. However, SurveyHead is one of the few survey sites that I have had luck with despite being Canadian when everyone seems to want American data (they even have a few surveys that are only for non-US inhabitants). Translation: all you Americans will have even more luck with it than I have, and I have actually done fairly well with this site.

I have gotten one payout so far... unfortunately that was last year, and I can't find my proof of payment anywhere. The payouts seem to differe from person to person (and unfortunately I can't find any reasoning for that anywhere), so my payout is $26.65 right now, and I believe it changes over time. The surveys also pay fairly well - most of the ones I get are $2-$5 so long as you actually qualify, and they even pay $0.24 for each of their profile surveys. So even if you're like me and don't qualify for many of them, you can still make quite a bit off of it.

They do not, however, have a referal program... though that seems to be true of a lot of the credible survey sites.

About paid surveys...

I've joined many paid survey sites over the years, and to be honest I actually enjoy doing the surveys for the most part... so it was no huge loss to me. However, I have never reached the minimum payout on these sites before.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't try them out, though. I just never qualified for many of the surveys because I'm Canadian and it seems they all want American data. So you might have a lot more luck than I did, since I have heard of plenty of people making good money off of these sites.

Make sure you check the terms before signing up, though. Some sites will pay you per survey, others will simply enter you into a draw for some huge sum (which rarely results in you making any money at all). Also, keep an eye out for focus groups. You can generally make more money off of these than you would off of surveys, and all you need to do is go into a chat room at a certain time and discuss your experiences with certain products.
